My hair loss story hasn’t been straightforward. I’ve shared snippets of it online but never all at once so this was tougher to write than I’d expected. The causes of hair loss can be so different from one person to the next but they are all valid.
I first started noticing my hair thinning in my early 30’s. It’s never been thick, but I had lots of hair and it was curly, so it did look like I had quite thick hair.
I'm a passionate advocate for raising awareness of Trichotillomania because of the stigma attached to it, it can be a very isolating disorder, and I want to make sure that those with Trichotillomania know that they’re not alone. I’m also in a very privileged position because I’ve always had very supportive family, friends and peers of my condition, so it's incredibly important to me to give a voice to those who are struggling to let them know that they can find support, understanding and help.
I spent countless hours researching hair loss remedies and solutions, hoping I would come across an article that would reassure me that my hair would grow back, but each time I was left disappointed with the search results.
I’ve suffered with my hair thinning for just under 10 years, my hair used to be my shining glory so to watch it slowly fall away over such a long period of time was simply heartbreaking.
